I would not label myself as a vegan by any means (can't wait to eat me some turkey on Thanksgiving in a few weeks), but I do enjoy eating a high-raw, vegan diet most days of the week. As someone who is always searching for healthy, low-calorie, whole and natural foods to add to my rotation, vegan foods always fit the bill! Basically what I'm saying is: I'm not a vegan, but I eat like one a lot! And I am very interested in the research behind the diet and learning more.
As I was reading Averie's blog (Love Veggies and Yoga) today, I saw info about Vegan Mofo - A Vegan Month of Food. I decided to sign my blog up! I agreed to spend the month of November posting things related to veganism. I decided to give myself a challenge: I am going to become a vegan for November! (Albeit a little exception for November 25th. I can't bear a Thanksgiving without turkey!) I will blog about my meals, grocery store adventures, struggles, etc.
Here are some resources I will use for the next 28 days...
The Vegan Food Pyramid! I plan to eat more veggies than it suggests and less grains. (I am trying out a gluten-free diet.)
PETA's website lists vegan foods (including the brand names) here.
I will be hitting up the Love Veggies and Yoga blog everyday like usual, as well as VeganYumYum, Vegan Minded, and FatFree Vegan Kitchen.
Wish me luck!!!
If you might prefer PCRM's four food groups instead of that pyramid: http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/vsk/food_groups.html
